Fly high with the SVP this June
The SVP Virtual Balloon Race is our Young Vincentians initiative for 2017. It's a great way to raise funds for your school or parish and support our work with young people.

Top prizes to get you fired up!
There are 56 great cash prizes to be won.
- £500 for the owner of the balloon which "travels" the farthest in a straight line
- £100 for the first five runners-up
- £50 for each of the next 50 competitors
Get creative and use your skill: Design your own balloon
You can decorate and personalise your balloon by choosing its size, thickness, shape and colour and how much virtual helium you want to fill it with. More helium will make it rise faster and fly higher but be careful, because if it flies too high it might burst.
Real-time weather data will be used to determine your balloon's altitude, speed and direction of travel.
Watch your "flight" live
Track your balloon's "flight" live on the race website map. At the end of the week, the owner of the balloon which has "travelled" the farthest in a straight line will be declared the overall winner and 55 runners up will also receive a cash prize.
Registering your school or parish is easy
Just fill in the form opposite to have your school or parish added to the list of participants on the race website (normally within two working days or less). You can then visit the site and validate your ticket entries at any time up to 12.00 noon on launch day.
The person who registers your school or parish must be someone in a position of authority, such as a senior teacher or parish priest. The email address you supply will be our main method of contacting you, so it must belong to someone who is aware of your school or parish's participation in the race.
Entering is even easier...
- Tickets cost £3.00 each and can be purchased online using a credit/debit card or Paypal
- Paper tickets can be purchased from your school or parish distributer, if you have one
- Your school or parish receives £1.00 for each ticket sold
- £2.00 supports the SVP's youth programme and helps cover the cost of organising the race
To validate a ticket for entry in the race, the unique activation code displayed on the front of the ticket must be registered on the race website and payment made.
Only tickets which are validated and paid for will be entered in the race.
Sell tickets in your school or parish community
If your Young Vincentians would like to distribute paper tickets to their friends and family and among their school or parish, booklets of 50 (which look similar to raffle tickets) are available. Just indicate on the form the number of booklets you would like to order.
All balloons registered by 12.00 noon on Thursday 15th June are guaranteed entry in the race.
Return your unsold paper tickets by 8th June
Please return all unsold paper tickets to the SVP National Office by Thursday 8th June.
The sale value of all unsold paper tickets not returned by this date will be deducted from your your school or parish share of funds raised. See the bottom of the form opposite for full details of the race terms and conditions.
Free activity workbooks on us
Free activity workbooks for Key Stages 2 and 3 are available to help young people explore the balloon race concept through physics, geography and maths. Sent on request via email, you can print them out and distribute them among your students. Just indicate on the registration form which workbooks you need.
Join the race and help the SVP
The number of Young Vincentians is growing steadily and we want to give them all the support we can. The virtual balloon race is not only an easy and fun way to raise money for your school or parish but will help raise much needed funds to support our Young Vincentians in their work in local communities across England and Wales.
